11th Grade Goshen Central High School Student Jack Calzaretta Wins Scholarship to Attend Early College

2013 Apr 16

It's not every day that 11th graders are offered a merit scholarship to attend college early. But for one Goshen, NY, junior, that's exactly the case. Jack Calzaretta earned a place at Bard College at Simon's Rock along with a substantial merit scholarship for his academic and extracurricular achievements.

Simon's Rock, the nation's only exclusively early college, extended an offer to Calzaretta to join the fall 2013 entering class. The Great Barrington, Massachusetts campus is home to 400 bright and highly motivated early college students engaged in a rigorous college education. Early college students are on track to graduate from college one or two year years ahead of their peers.

"Simon's Rock receives a number of impressive applications every year, making the admission process highly selective," Steven Coleman, director of Admission said. "While we award various scholarships, our Acceleration to Excellence merit scholarship is granted to our most impressive applicants. Jack's AEP scholarship is a testament to the remarkable nature of his academic and extracurricular accomplishments."
