Naida West Named a Winner of the 2016 Leslie Sander Writing Contest

2016 Apr 18

Simon's Rock recently announced the winners of its 2016 Leslie Sander Writing Contest. This is the twentieth year for the contest, sponsored in conjunction with the College's Tutoring and Writing Center.

West, a 19 year-old senior from North Attleboro, MA, placed first in the Dramatic Writing category for her piece entitled "Nowhere Land".

The annual contest, a memorial to alum Leslie Sander '87, celebrates the achievements of our gifted writers. Students have six weeks to submit a piece in one or more of five categories: Poetry, Personal Essay, Expository Essay, Seminar I & II, and Fiction. A panel of faculty and staff judges each category entry.

West entered college after completing the 10th grade at Bishop Feehan High School.
